Shouldn't we be GOING somewhere?
So I have been lately reading Elizabeth Elliot's book 'Shadow of the Almighty.' Fantastic biography about her husband, Jim, and for those who don't know, that's the 'End of the Spear' story that came out in theaters a few years ago. This man is so dedicated to The Lord, it's crazy and impressive. He wanted nothing to do with things that distracted him from the word or hindered others from accepting the Gospel as truth. Shouldn't all Christians strive to be like that? Not just some 'cultural Christian' lifestyle that all 'Bible-Belt' Americans tend to practice? Why haven't we lived our lives radically as Jesus asked us to? Why haven't we GONE? "Go therefore and make disciples among all nations. Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Teaching them all that I have commanded you, and surely I will be with you, till the end of the age."
That is one of my favorite verses in the word. I love how he's talking about me and to me. Others have taught me what Jesus commanded and now I must Go and do the same. Oh and I can't wait to Go!
My dear cousin Emilee came home from college a week ago and we got to spend the weekend together. Yesterday we went to Steel City Pops (amazing gourmet Popsicle shop in Homewood, Alabama), and Mother's Day shopping, and then made dresses for ourselves (they haven't turned out right just yet...) at her house until laaaate. She is one of the sweetest people I know, with such a humble spirit and a kind heart. She's studying dance and physical therapy right now in school and she's just brilliant at it! This morning we went to The Church at Brook Hills together and had a fantastic time worshiping and learning about The Lord. He put on her heart that we should start an accountability group between some close friends or family. I'm excited about this idea and will be praying about it. Something I have lately learned about our wise Father is that he will teach us or move us to do something through others. She is a dedicated disciple and I am thankful for God putting her back into my life after her being gone so long! She is definitely a person that I need to stick close with so that God can teach me kindness and what a Christian woman should be. "Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." Philippians 4:8
Talk to you soon! Please pray for me to grow in wisdom.
-My heart is not afraid.
