Intro to Photoshop
Intro to Photoshop
June 7, 2017
Years ago my dear dad bought my brother and I Photoshop 11 for our laptops and only now have I gotten around to learning how to use it!
After a quick four-hour Facetime date with my bro, I emerged intrigued and on a mission to create something amazing with Photoshop. I chose inspiration from Albion Fit's swimwear collection, combined with Mary Kate Robertson's first go at Photoshop that she posted on Instagram back in April.
To start, I sketched a few bathing suits in my drawing pad and decided on a few key designs. Then, to add to the theme of summer festivities, drew my Birks, some big fronds, lily pads and ice cream!
Watercolors busted out to fill them all in with color, then after an impatient drying period, I traced the pencil marks with Paper Mate's medium Flair felt-tip and Zebra's Sarasa 1.0 pens which both turned out to be mistakes because they left lines too wide. Oh well, next time I'll know!
I snapped a few pictures in good light on my back porch (you can see them above) and uploaded them into Photoshop. I was surprised at how easily I got a hang of it, all the names, techniques, and buttons! To cut out each item, I used the magnetic lasso tool, and made them each into new layers.
With all my layers cut out, I edited the watercolor drawings to have brighter colors, different designs, finer outlines, and different layouts all over the page!
Here are some finished products that I hope you will enjoy!
