Nanegalito, Ecuador
One week done! Five to go! Nanegalito was a blast with the first team from Brook Hills. I loved getting to know some high school girls in the team and serving with them. Our main service projects were painting the houses of some special needs families in the Nanegalito area, sprucing up The Meeting Place, and putting on some VBS for kids in town and at a school.
The special needs families were my favorite. The joy on the faces (and graciousness) of the mentally handicapped friends we served really spoke to our team. In our morning devotionals we discussed how each family was overjoyed with our willingness to serve. One group was blessed with seeing a man come to Christ as they worked together painting a house. He was the ex-husband of the grandmother who lived there, who willingly traveled from far away to come help the painting of her house. Talk about a divine appointment of everything lining up for him to hear the good news.
On our tourist/travel day we visited the equator! The neat park has historical tour guides that will walk you through the exhibits at their park which were very fun! Kids in our group got to walk the line to test gravity's pulls, balance an egg on a nail, and learn about shrunken heads of the native tribes!
Please be in prayer for this new believer and for the safety of this team's return to the US. Pray for the work at the Meeting Place and The Houses of Happiness Orphanage. Pray that the Lord will guide his saints to do his will and to have unwavering faith despite resistance in their work.
God bless you all,
My heart is not afraid
Psalm 91:14-16
"Because he holds fast to me in love, I will answer him; I will protect him because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation."
Thanks for your blog. I look forward to hearing about all the Lord is doing in and through you this summer. Love you.
